Role Overview

We’re looking for a BI & Analytics Intern who enjoys building as much as analysing. You’ll work with stakeholders across the business to make data more accessible and actionable, delivering solutions that create lasting impact beyond the internship.

The role covers three areas: building an internal AI-powered analytics assistant, developing finance automation workflows, and creating dashboards and reporting solutions. You’ll work across the full analytics lifecycle, from sourcing and transforming data to delivering scalable outputs for decision-making.

You’ll be embedded within the FP&A team while collaborating closely with Engineering, Product, and external partners. All work will be done within Tazapay’s internal data governance framework under the guidance of the BI and Data Engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Internal Analytics Assistant

  • Design and build a governed internal analytics assistant that lets Finance, Sales, and Management ask business questions in plain English and get validated, explainable answers from our internal data warehouse

  • Build query templates for the most common business questions and implement audit logging covering usage, cost, and query activity

  • Work with IT and the BI lead to define the governance framework: approved data access scope, user permissions, and metric versioning policy

2. Finance Automation Workflows

  • Support FP&A operations through workflow automation and reporting process improvements

3. Dashboarding

  • Build and improve internal dashboards across company metrics, entity-level P&L, Sales and Account Management performance, and Finance reporting

Qualifications

Must Have

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field

  • Strong SQL skills with comfort around complex queries, joins, window functions, CTEs, and aggregations

  • Familiarity with ClickHouse or willingness to learn quickly

  • Ability to work across technical and business stakeholders

  • Comfortable building end-to-end, not just analysing

  • Strong attention to detail, especially around data accuracy and reconciliation

  • Experience with LLMs or AI agent frameworks (LangChain, Claude API, OpenAI)

Good to Have

  • Exposure to fintech datasets like transactions, settlements, FX rates, or reconciliation data

  • Prior internship or project experience at a fintech, bank, or financial services company

  • Python for scripting and lightweight automation

  • Experience with Tableau, QuickSight, or similar BI tools

  • Understanding of P&L structure or month-end close processes

  • Familiarity with dbt or eagerness to pick it up

  • Comfortable working with version control (git) in a team setting
